Canada Map Book by Apple Press

Something we’ve noticed when looking at what people view on Southern Alberta Home Schooling Supplies is that the Canada Map Book series is the most popular Apple Press title we carry. Actually, for that matter, the Canada Map Book Series is the single most popular product we carry. It’s twice as popular as Story of the World, our second most-popular title.

Canada Map Book 1

Canada Map Book 1 is designed for students in grades 2–3. The book starts with imaginary maps to familiarize children with map reading skills.

Mostly eye-catching images, the maps engage and challenge students as they read progress onto realistic maps of Canada.

Canada Map Book 2

Targeting students in grades 3–4, Canada Map Book 2 helps these students master the map reading skills they learned in Canada Map Book 1 as they learn more about Canada’s varied geography.

By the end of the book, students will be able to recognize shapes, interpret symbols, calculate position and direction, use scale, and identify basic landforms and water bodies.

Canada Map Book 3

Similar to Canada Map Book 2, Canada Map Book 3 teaches students (this time students in grades 4–5) skills involving shape, symbols, direction, positon, and scale.

The more than 40 activities in the book are based on provincial social studies curricula and help students develop one or more new map-reading skills every time.

Canada Map Book 4

Canada Map Book 4 is the final book in the Canada Map Book series, and is a natural follow-up to Canada Map Book 3. That being said, it can be used as a stand-alone social studies learning resource.

It uses various maps of Canada—including cultural, historical, physical, and political—to help students learn new skills in shape, symbols, position, direction, and scale.
